Behind the Music

I like the idea behind this project a lot because this is something completely new. Creating an atmosphere and telling a story in my tracks is a big challenge but a rewarding one. I love how music connects and touches people, so I was very inspired by Ian’s idea to empower stories through music.

About HKLMR

Moritz aka HKLMR is a 21-year-old producer from Hanover, Germany, who has been involved with music a lot in his life. Especially in the past few years, after picking up FL Studio in 2014, Moritz quickly realized that he had found his passion. In the next two years, he constantly improved his skills and tried to put out his first song. Having released his first track, “Serenity,” in 2016, he quickly found the motivation to get better and better. Following the release of “Serenity,” he put out “In This World” and “Shelter,” even though he only had a few years of music production experience. Right now, after his recent collaboration with Aeden, Moritz is on his way to make a name for himself in order to fulfill his passion of living off of music.

The Journalism behind the Music

All music in this project is based on The Outlaw Ocean, a New York Times Best-Selling book by Ian Urbina that chronicles lawlessness at sea around the world. This reporting touches on a diversity of abuses ranging from illegal and overfishing, arms trafficking at sea, human slavery, gun running, intentional dumping, murder of stowaways, thievery of ships and other topics.
