The Pursuit

Behind the Music

I want my music to convey a sense of mystery and the unknown. I hope to replicate the feeling of the sea’s vastness and the lives that inhabit it.

The “Storming the Thunder” and “The Somali 7” chapters moved me the most. The first highlighted the complexities of problems at sea by describing the issue of who has authority in any given body of water. The chapter took an interesting look at a ship that some would consider a vigilante vessel, while others would say is doing the hard work that no one else has stepped up to do. “The Somali 7” took an up-close and personal look at a country with cycles of corruption and danger. These are all themes that I integrate into my music and hope will connect to listeners.
