Behind the Music

I was excited to join this project to try something new. The parts in The Outlaw Ocean about human trafficking in Thailand and the animals stealing fish from fishermen really interested me, and I think more people should read about these topics. The crimes in the ocean are not discussed enough and I want to help with that. Ian’s reporting will hopefully open some eyes and plant some new thoughts.

About Kasper Lindmark

Kasper Lindmark started making beats by himself after his music classes in school ended. He listened to tomppabeats in the car and decided that he would try to make something similar. His influences are spread out and he always enjoys listening to and finding new sounds.

The Journalism behind the Music

All music in this project is based on The Outlaw Ocean, a New York Times Best-Selling book by Ian Urbina that chronicles lawlessness at sea around the world. This reporting touches on a diversity of abuses ranging from illegal and overfishing, arms trafficking at sea, human slavery, gun running, intentional dumping, murder of stowaways, thievery of ships and other topics.
